APPLICATION

The Application Workgroup decides which applications/ use cases to address, and defines the requirements for each one.

For example, the Application Workgroup might define that for the "TEXP.net Board Meeting" application, the provider must ensure

  • Excellent Audio Quality

  • Participant Authentication

  • Chairman, Participant, Observer and Notetaker roles

  • Fair Turn-taking Speech Access

  • Crowd Audio (for humming, applause, etc)

  • Anonymous Voting

The exact meaning of these terms are defined by the TEXP.net Interaction and Technology Workgroups.

TEXP.net does not implement or provide any of these services. It only defines what a participant or buyer have the right to expect when some provider offers a "TEXP.net Board Meeting" service or app.

Other applications that the Application Workgroup might define could be

  • TEXP.net Classroom, level 1-4

  • TEXP.net Rock Concert

  • TEXP.net Trade Show, level 1-3

  • TEXP.net Museum Tour

  • ... (your proposed application here)...

Review the workgroup charters here.

INTERACTION

The interaction workgroup defines the kinds of social interactions that are in the toolbox when the Applications Workgroup defines the requirements.

For example, the Interactions Workgroup might define exactly what is meant by Fair Turn-taking Speech Access, and how participants would interact with this feature.

Other topics of interest to the Interactions Workgroup would be

  • Assignment of Roles to participants

  • Role-dependent Function Access

  • Different kinds of Mic and Camera and Content sharing modes

  • Participant Monitor so each participant can understand what others can see and hear without asking

It is likely that this workgroup will need to be further subdivided into multiple subgroups at some later point. Review the workgroup charters here.

TECHNOLOGY

The Technology Workgroup defines the APIs and technologies that are in the toolbox when the Applications Workgroup defines their use cases.

For example, what are the technical requirements for Excellent Audio Quality in terms of

  • Background Noise Removal

  • Echo-cancellation

  • Network Throughput Adaptability

  • Encryption

Topics of interest to the Technology Workgroup are all kinds of Audio, Video, 3D, Virtual and Augmented Reality modes, Network Protocols and APIs, Security, Access Control, etc.

It is likely that this workgroup will need to be further subdivided into multiple subgroups at some later point. Review the workgroup charters here.
